Structured. Multisensory. Explicit.
Barton Reading and Spelling System is a program designed to explicitly teach reading, spelling and writing to children, teens and adults that have difficulty reading and spelling or have dyslexia. It is based on Orton Gillingham, which uses an explicit, structured and multisensory approach to teach literacy.
Every student starts at level 1 and progresses through to level 10.
Level 1: Phonemic Awareness
Level 2: Consonants and Short Vowels
Level 3: Closed and Unit Syllables
Level 4: Syllable Division and Vowel Teams
Level 5: Prefixes and Suffixes
Level 6: Six Reasons for Silent-E
Level 7: Vowel-R Syllables
Level 8: Advanced Vowel Teams
Level 9: Influences of Foreign Language
Level 10: Greek Words and Latin Roots
All sessions are one-on-one for 50 minutes and students must attend a minimum of twice a week. Sessions are provided in person or online.
