Education

My interest in children of all ages led me to earn my Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies. This education provided the understanding of the physical, cognitive and emotional development across all ages.

Following that, I earned my teacher licensure in addition to a Master of Arts Degree in Reading and a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. This provided me specialized courses in understanding literacy processes and student learning that prepared me to be a successful teacher and literacy specialist.

Experience

I have worked in a variety of roles in education throughout my professional career working with students from kindergarten through 9th grade. Most of my experience has been as a literacy specialist, however I also enjoyed many years as a classroom teacher. I have an extensive background in a variety of multisensory, explicit reading intervention programs and assessments.

Passion

My passion is creating positive relationships with students so they feel safe to take risks and to support their journey of developing a joy for reading and becoming confident readers and writers. I love learning about their interests and strengths and incorporate those into our sessions to make learning fun!

In my spare time, you will find me reading or adventuring with my husband, grown children and friends. I especially enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, paddle boarding and walking our golden retriever, Roxy.
